HUGHES WINS GVF QUARTER CENTURY OF EXCELLENCE AWARD

Company Recognized for Numerous Achievements in Space and on the Ground

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of its establishment as the global voice of the entire satellite communications industry, GVF today announced at World Satellite Business Week that a panel of independent jurors has selected Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), as the winner of the GVF Quarter Century of Excellence Award.

The GVF Award recognizes Hughes, an EchoStar company, for its many advances during the last twenty-five years that the jurors found have had the greatest beneficial impact on society and the broad telecommunications sector, while also improving the Company’s bottom line.

GVF Secretary General, David Meltzer, commented that “In 1997, GVF was established as the voice for the satellite industry and Hughes was an original member. During these last twenty-five years, Hughes has contributed to delivering satellite internet services to populations underserved by terrestrial broadband, become the manufacturer a large percentage of all VSATs, and developed the JUPITER™ System ground network standard that today operates on over 75 satellites. These and other contributions have made Hughes the deserving winner of the GVF Quarter Century of Excellence Award.”

Hughes President and CEO, Pradman Kaul, said: “It is a great honor for Hughes to be selected as the recipient of the GVF Quarter Century of Excellence Award, and a great credit to the Hughes employees, who embody the spirit of innovation and passion that define our company and our industry. It’s also a reflection of our customers and partners around the world, including the other worthy nominees of this accolade, all of whom have inspired us to make the world a better place through the power of connection for more than a quarter century.”
