Avealto Ltd., a United Kingdom company, is in the final stage of development for  a viable High Altitude Platform (“HAP”) designed to support high value telecommunications payloads.

HAPs can place broadband capacity exactly where it is needed at a much lower cost than satellites and serve remote areas that traditional ground-based infrastructure cannot easily reach.

An Avealto HAP will remain in a stationary position at an altitude of 20 to 25 kilometers and will perform the same functions as geosynchronous telecommunication satellites.

Avealto is working cooperatively with existing operators in the satellite industry to plan the provison of enhanceed services in hotspot areas as needed.
