AMAZON JOINS GVF AS A FULL MEMBER
Julie Zoller of Amazon’s Project Kuiper and Nancy Eskenazi of SES Elected to GVF’s Board of Directors
9 December 2019, London – GVF announced that Amazon has joined GVF as a Full Member. Separately, GVF’s Full Members have elected Ms. Julie N. Zoller, Head of Global Regulatory Affairs for Amazon’s Project Kuiper, to a two-year term on GVF’s Board of Directors. Re-elected to GVF’s Board for a two-year term was Ms. Nancy Eskenazi, Senior Vice President, Global Legal & Regulatory Affairs for SES.
David Meltzer, GVF’s Secretary General, commented that
Amazon’s Project Kuiper initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity is another example of how new satellite technologies are enabling governments, businesses, and consumers to increasingly benefit from being connected to one another. Amazon joins other GVF members that are, or soon will be, operating satellites in non-geostationary orbit such as SES, Telesat, and OneWeb. Ms. Zoller and Ms. Eskenazi bring extensive experience in the satellite industry working for the public and private sectors and this will greatly contribute to GVF’s role as the global voice for the satellite industry.
NOTES FOR EDITORS
GVF is the only global non-profit association of the satellite industry. Founded in 1997 and headquartered in London, it brings together organizations from around the world representing the satellite ecosystem that are engaged in the development and delivery of satellite technologies and services for consumers, commercial and government organizations worldwide. GVF’s aim is to facilitate expanded access to satellite-based connectivity solutions globally, which is achieved through regulatory, policy and spectrum advocacy; training and certification; product quality assurance; and collaboration with user groups and other satellite stakeholders.
