The GVF Working Group on sustainable space operations was established in 2017 out of a concern about the ability to preserve a safe space environment for future exploration and innovation and the need to limit the creation of new space debris, maximize the information available on both debris and spacecraft, and encourage the development of and adherence to community-wide best practices for all space industry stakeholders.
